MASTERSON FARMS, LLC. ANNOUNCES CLOSING OF BOOK FOR RL BEST OF SUDDEN

(August 28, 2017). Masterson Farms, LLC, the home of RL Best Of Sudden, today announced that it will close his book to outside mares for the 2018 breeding season.

Ken Masterson discussed the reasons for having limited his book in the past and for now closing it. He noted “RL Best Of Sudden will be 16 years of age this next season. Thanks to the customers who have believed so strongly in his offspring, and the success of those raised at the farm, he has continued to have remarkable success as a sire of not only western pleasure horses, but as well World Champions in everything from western riding to trail and performance halter”.

“Early in his career, RL Best Of Sudden sustained an injury to his stifle which does not currently limit his ability as a sire. We want to do everything we can to protect him and his breeding career, and think closing his book to outside mares at this point is the correct decision. We will of course honor any existing rebreed obligations from the 2017 season.”

 

 

 

MASTERSON FARMS, LLC. ANNOUNCES NEW PLAN FOR RL BEST OF SUDDEN 2016 BREEDING SEASON

(July 15, 2015) Masterson Farms, LLC, the home of RL Best Of Sudden, today announced that it will limit the number of outside mares bred during the 2016 season to 40. The breeding fee will be $5,000.

Ken Masterson discussed the reasons for limiting the book and noted “RL Best Of Sudden will be 14 years of age this next season. Thanks to the customers who have believed so strongly in his offspring, he has had remarkable success as a sire of not only western pleasure horses, but as well World Champions in everything from western riding to trail and performance halter”.

“Early in his career, RL Best Of Sudden sustained an injury to his stifle which does not currently limit his ability as a sire. However, if we continue to breed him to the current high number of mares, that injury will worsen and could eventually affect him as a sire. We want to do everything we can to protect him and his breeding career, and think substantially reducing his book of mares at this point is an important step in that direction.”

We are very pleased to announce that Casey Willis will be joining the Farm December 1st as its Head Trainer. In that role, he will be responsible for and supervise all training activities at the Farm. He will be supported by Assistant Trainers Kaitlin LeBlanc, now at the Farm, and Blair Townsend, who will be joining with Casey, as well as Amanda Ringer who will continue in her role as Farm Manager.

We are exceptionally pleased to announce that our assistant trainer, Kaitlin LeBlanc, 2014 University of Findlay graduate & former Western Equestrian team member, was asked to compete in the AQHA Collegiate Challenge, to be held at the AQHA World Show in Oklahoma City. She was invited after being named Individual Open Horsemanship at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Nationals held earlier this year, in May.

16 riders, in total, were invited to compete (8 from the IHSA, and 8 from the National Collegiate Equestrian Association). Riders are given four minutes to warm up on unfamiliar mounts before the preliminary competition begins November, 19th. We all wish Kaitlin the best of luck, and are proud to have her representing Masterson Farms in this event.

MASTERSON FARMS, LLC, is pleased to announce the launch of our new website at www.mastersonfarms.com. The site has been substantially revised to include new information concerning the farm and its stallions which include RL Best Of Sudden, Zippos Sheik, and Last Detail, as well as extensive new photo galleries. The outstanding performance of the get of each of these stallions is also featured.

In addition, we are announcing that those who wish to breed to RL Best Of Sudden at last year’s breeding fee of $3,500, rather than the new 2012 breeding fee of $3,750, may do so by booking by January 15, 2012. In addition, the usual discounts will apply to all 2012 contracts.
